IFSTTAR conducts European research on the city and the territories, transportation and civil engineering.
The French Institute of Science and Technology for Transport, Development and Networks (IFSTTAR) was created on 1 January 2011 from the merger of two research institutions INRETS and LCPC.

IFSTTAR conducts research into urban and regional planing, transportation systems, and civil engineering. The institute is a public scientific and technical agency under the supervision of the ministries of ecology, sustainable development and energy and of higher education and research.
